About Sarah Jacobson

Sarah Jacobson was Buxton’s 2009-2010 Jewish Fellow. She grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and graduated from Tufts University in 2008, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English literature with a concentration in studio art. During her time at Tufts, she participated in various journalistic research projects in Argentina, Philadelphia and Cambodia. After studying abroad in Senegal, she developed an interest in Islamic art and Sufi Islam. She is interested in the intersection between faith, personal identity, and how it relates to conflict – as well as learning about how the arts can promote empathy between seemingly irreconcilable groups. Most recently, she worked as a youth advisor at a reform synagogue in Connecticut and an educational nonprofit called Pathways for Mutual Respect, based in New Haven. She also spends time at the Washington DC JCC, assisting with literary and music programs. In her free time, she can be found reading, cooking, painting, and going to concerts and hanging out with friends.
