The dynamics of marriage and gender roles in America are changing in extraordinary ways. Unprecedented opportunities and successes for women, the rising age of marriage, and the famous estimate of a 50% divorce rate all conflate our understanding of marriage and family today.
Moreover, interfaith marriage is another growing—and often controversial—reality among Christians, Jews, and Muslims. These realities have raised a number of questions:
- How have religious communities dealt with the changing dynamics of marriage, such as more equality in gender roles, variances in work opportunities, and the rising marriage age?
- How have communities approached the common issue of divorce?
- In what ways will the growth of interfaith marriage impact religious identities of future generations?
- Is interfaith marriage permissible from scriptural standpoints?
Come join Imam Mohamed Magid and Reverend Scott Seaton to discuss this topic and share your ideas at this upcoming Roundtable event.
The Roundtable will be held at the Case Foundation
A light lunch will be served.
